Safety-Signs.work is a free tool for generating workplace safety sign images. There are no user accounts, and we collect as little as we can while still understanding how the site is used.

What we collect

First-party usage analytics

When you view a page, build a sign, or use an export button (copy link, open or download), the site records an event on our own server. Each event may include the page path, the referring URL, your browser’s user-agent string, the type of sign involved, and the non-personal parameters of that sign (for example the CAUTION header, or a message such as WET FLOOR that you typed onto a sign).

We do not store your IP address. To count unique visitors without identifying anyone, each event carries a one-way fingerprint — a truncated SHA-256 hash of your IP address combined with your user-agent. It cannot be reversed to an IP address and is never stored next to one. This data is used only in aggregate. The same analytics service also runs our sister sites, such as Road-Signs.work; each event records which site it came from, and our public statistics show this site’s own totals.

Google Analytics

If enabled, the site loads Google Analytics (gtag.js), which sets its own cookies and collects standard analytics data (approximate location from IP, device and browser information, pages visited) subject to Google’s privacy policy. You can block it with any tracker-blocking extension or a “Do Not Track” / GPC browser setting without affecting the sign builder.

Saved and recently viewed signs

The “Saved signs” and “Recently viewed” lists are kept in your own browser’s local storage. They never leave your device, aren’t sent to us, and disappear if you clear this site’s data (the “Clear” button empties the recent list).

Cookies

The sign builder itself sets no cookies. The only cookies on the site are those set by Google Analytics. Our first-party analytics uses no cookies.

What we don’t do

Hosting

The site and its sign API are hosted on Vercel, which processes requests on our behalf and may log request metadata (including IP addresses) as part of normal operation and abuse prevention. See Vercel’s privacy policy.

Data retention

Aggregate analytics events are kept to track long-term usage trends. Because no event identifies a person, there is nothing to request the deletion of; if you believe otherwise, contact us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it. See also the changelog.
